This clinic will focus on providing trauma-informed care to children, adolescents, and young adult/college-age individuals (ages 6-22 years) utilizing Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) as the two main treatment modalities. Other modalities may include family systems approaches and other trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapies. Interns might have the opportunity to use Imagery Rehearsal Therapy for nightmare reduction related to PTSD. Interns will complete their own intakes with supervisor support. Trauma cases will be diverse: child maltreatment, medical trauma, interpersonal violence, etc. Interns will gain additional experience in conducting health risk assessments as well as safety planning around suicidality and self-harm behaviors. Depending on the case, they will gain experience consulting with psychiatry and school administration on a regular basis. They will use routine outcome monitoring to track treatment progress and engage in didactics about risk assessment, trauma and risk-related behaviors, and evidence-based practices.
