About Jessica Payne-Murphy

Dr. Jessica Payne-Murphy is Director of the Insomnia and Behavioral Sleep Medicine Clinic in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology in the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions. Before joining the faculty team, she completed her postdoctoral fellowship and internship in clinical health psychology at UF. She received her doctorate in clinical health psychology at the University of Colorado Denver and her bachelor’s degree from Smith College in 1999. Her prior work includes neuropsychological assessment for older adults with mild cognitive impairment/dementias and working with patients with chronic pain, mood and somatization disorders.

Clinical Profile

Although the emphasis of Dr. Payne-Murphy’s clinical work is primarily behavioral sleep medicine for adults and children, she addresses a broad spectrum of mental health and chronic illness concerns in her clinic. Chronic pain, fibromyalgia, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression are several of these. She conducts and teaches evidence-based mental health and behavioral sleep medicine therapies and assessment to doctoral trainees. Her clinical work is conducted both via telehealth and at the UF Psychology Specialties Clinic.

Cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia in adults and children. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based therapies for chronic pain. Dr. Payne-Murphy is clinical faculty and does not accept graduate students as part of a research lab.
