Child Health Rotation

Interns will have the opportunity to select a child health rotation to gain experience in an interdisciplinary pediatric clinic setting. Available experiences include Endocrinology, Pulmonology, Oncology/Hematology, Infectious Disease, Gastroenterology, and Pediatric Sleep Medicine. As an example of this experience, interns on the Pediatric Pulmonary Rotation (under the supervision David Fedele, Ph.D., ABPP) work with patients diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Psychology is part of a large interdisciplinary team that includes pulmonologists, nurses, social workers, and respiratory therapists. Interns consult with patients and their families during their routine outpatient visits to the Cystic Fibrosis Center and during inpatient hospitalizations to evaluate and treat psychosocial adjustment, medical regimen adherence and disease management, family functioning, and coping. For more details on the various interdisciplinary clinic rotations that can be available to select as an elective in this track, please see the descriptions provided in the Pediatric Psychology Intensive track section below.
